LETTER FROM MUTE

LOVE- a word that soothes everybody’s heart irrespective of age, division, species. The one feeling that every one of us have been craving for (no, don’t deny that!) There is all this long walks, endless talks, hugs and kisses of passion, cuddles and care, and lots-and-lots of sweet gestures. All this happens in a two-way relationship, where both persons are in love with each other.

But what about one-side love? At one point of time, almost all of us would have been a one-side lover. Long walks, awn and awn talks, exist in one-side love too! But in a different realm- DREAM! We one-side lovers feel everything deeply. For example, unintentional shoulder brush from that special person may lead to body malfunction! Wait, did I say ‘we’? Well yes, I have been there (or still there).

If you want to know how one-side love feels, don’t mind my vulgar thought here, imagine a virgin having intercourse- Yes, Pain and pleasure at the same time! It is when thousands of emotions and thousands of confessions race their way through all the part of you, but you choose to stay muted, for they may reject you.

What one-side love feels like can not be best described accurately than the words knitted by Kavignar Vairamuthu in tamil movie Anniyan (Kumari song):

காதலை மறைத்தால் கனம் தாங்காமல்
என்னுயிர் செத்துபோகும் இல்லையா
காதலை சொல்லி இல்லையென்று மறுத்தால்
காதலே செத்து போகும் இல்லையா

The above line translates as, ‘if my love stays hidden from you, I may die of burden inside me. If you reject me after I confess, the love itself may die.’

Well, apparently, this is the thought of all muted one-side lovers like me. We fear of rejection, hatred, rudeness etcetera etcetera etcetera! We even think that this one-side love is self-curable with time and it may go off after we get busy with our life. But you know what, love is not a sickness to be cured! If you do not let it out, all your dreams just swells up in your heart and you grow fatigue as each day passes by. This would definitely affect your day-to-day life, your relationship with family, friends and inner peace. One may even distract from their career goals and sink in depression.

This is a piece of advice from me to all the one-side lovers out there- DO NOT STAY MUTE. Express your love for him/her, gather all your guts and sing out loud! There are only 2 possibilities- either you get a person for life, or since you know your answer now, your fatigue would go away. Of course, there is drama after that- tears and insomnia- but eventually you will focus on moving-on. Time does its duty here! Remember this: LIFE HAS TO GO ON.

Now, this is an advice for all those who get love proposals- LET them to express their love (verbally!), LET them confess! Hear them out and do not ignore their sincere plead. If you love them back, Yaay! If you don’t, reject them politely yet in a firm tone. Because, trust me, their heart is as fragile as a snowflake. As in my case personally, lack of attention from that special one led me to pen down these thoughts that are whoozing out in pain. Besides, whats more beautiful than a love confession? You are king or queen, hero or angel, sun and moon, water and boon in his/her life! Hear them out, feel good about yourself.

Some may consider one-side love as weak, but it is not. Love doesn’t require an approval of two people. Its mine, just mine! Words fail to express how thankful I feel to my special one to have shown me this isolated world of one-side love. My Dear One, this is for you- wherever you go, whatever you do, the sweetness of your name will reside in my lips. Just like John Greene quoted in ‘The fault in our stars’, “It would be a privilege to have my heart broken by you.”

Sorry for I’m a bit late to say this-

Belated happy valentine’s day, folks!

Happy falling in love!
